Biodegradable Bags - Eco Friendly Advertising

by Andy Black

Biodegradable bags are a great way to contribute towards looking after planet earth. They are a very eco friendly product that will help promote your brand and get your company name noticed. Most councils and government organisations now use biodegradable bags due to their eco-friendly nature. Bioplastics are the new craze in the plastic industry. Bioplastic is produced from the components of organic materials such as soy oil and corn starch. The process can work in two ways. With aerobic degrading, the materials are broken down by bacteria in an oxygen environment. As you might guess, anaerobic degradation is the second method and does not require an oxygen rich environment. Not only do standard carrier bags take substantially longer to break down or degrade than biodegradable bags, but as they do they release highly toxic chemicals.

There are many other environmentally friendly promotional products on the market, with each of them serving a purpose. Many councils and government departments use recycled goods where they can to re-inforce the governments stand on creating a greener future. Using pulp based recycled products such as paper pads, help reduce the felling of tree's around the world. Recycled promotional products like rechargeable torches and recycled mugs can be offered as promotional products as these items do not require any digging up or mining of raw materials from the environment. One of the most widely accepted environmently friendly items is the shopping bag. These come in the form of paper, starch based, or bags with a biodegradable agent added.

Promotional products in general can help your business boom. They are a great tool to offer as business incentives to staff and clients alike. Promotional products can help draw attention to your company at any event, and a custom promotional gift is an effective way to demonstrate your company's professionalism. All products previously produced as Leather goods can now be made from PU - usually for less than half the price. This produced a short term boost for UK manufacturers. Promotional products and business gifts are a great way to get your logo and brand in front of potential customers. The key focus of every business is maintaining a client base that will ensure success and future operations.

Promotional pens are used by just about everyone on the planet, from kids to the elderly. They are a good way to keep your company logo in the hands of your clients and potential clients. No matter whether you are a doctor, a lawyer, a businessman, a student or a housewife, you will need a pen for some purpose or the other, that is for certain. Promotional pens are one product that offers guaranteed usage. It will most certainly get used by someone. A low cost promotional pen has on average, seven owners within its lifetime. Everyone uses pens, from school children to the professionals who teach them.

Another great business gift is the promotional mug. These are also a promotional item that are used daily and are literally in the hands of your clients. A printed mug is the perfect solution to your advertising needs, because it's an item your client base could potentially use on a daily basis. Within the business sector printed mugs are given out regularly. The main elements on your mug should include your company's name, your company's logo and any message your company wants to send, including a listing of products and services. Personalised mugs must be of a good quality, as they are an item that is going to be in use for a long time to come. So ensuring that these items remain durable becomes a must.

Say No to Paper or Plastic- Go Green!

by Suzanne Macguire

Environmental degradation is one of the greatest causes of concern spearing up its head these days. A little cooperation on our part can work wonders to save the environment. Cooperation can begin at individual level by ensuring that the articles of daily use are environmental-friendly. Research suggests that almost 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed and discarded annually worldwide! This is alarming indeed as plastic bags are not biodegradable- they break up into smaller toxic particles, contaminating both soil and water. So the next time the clerk at your favorite grocery store asks whether you prefer paper or plastic, give an environmental-friendly answer by choosing "neither".

People, in general, are under the misconception that paper bags are better than the plastic ones. But this alternative carries its own set of environmental problems. According to the American Forest and Paper Association, in 1999 the U.S. alone used 10 billion paper grocery bags- which adds up to a lot of trees! This is no good news for environmental activists who promote afforestation and tree-saving tactics.

The solution to this problem lies in the use of high quality reusable bags, emitting no residue to harm the environment during its production and can be easily reused. These bags are usually comprised of 80% post-consumer waste. Reusable grocery bags have a washable surface and are more spacious. Fashion conscious people can also take their pick of the wide range of eco-friendly bags available in soft and natural hues. These bags use natural fibers, which consume less energy during the production process. For instance, corn-based bags break down in landfills or composters in four to twelve weeks. This way the environment is kept safe of the disastrous hazards of plastic bags.

A number of eco-friendly companies have now come up with unique reusable bags- thereby acting as tools for increasing popular awareness for saving the environment from artificial hazards. These ethical alternatives can thus be a life-saving effort, not just for a few but for the multitude!
